811, Traditional auction in Bredgade
8 Mar until 12 Mar 2010

Time for change! Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers of Fine Art welcome you to the first traditional auction of the year at Bredgade.

The old and the modern

As a novel feature, the auction will present older paintings and antiques as well as modern art and design, reflecting contemporary trends within interior design of blending new items with old. Rococo meets the masters of Danish modern art at our preview at Bredgade. And crisp modern Danish designs are paired with paintings of the Golden Age. All, we hope, to great inspiration for our visitors.

From Constantin Hansen to Peder Moos

The items on auction represent a time span of 400 years, featuring absolute artistic highlights such as Constantin Hansen’s motif from Forum Romanum, painted in 1846, and not least four works by Vilhelm Hammershøi, among them two of his rare landscapes. Newer Danish art is represented by, among others, Asger Jorn with his formidable and hitherto unknown work “Magisk dans” (‘Magical dance’) from 1944.

The paintings are accompanied by furniture design representing different epochs. Among the many noteworthy pieces of Rococo furniture is a secretary from the mid-1700s, originating from the Ulla Gregaard Collection. All great names from the golden era of Danish Modern are also offered for sale. Peder Moos is strongly represented with an ensemble of four furniture designs, and his unique table can ultimately be described as one of the finest pieces of furniture ever offered at auction at Bruun Rasmussen.
