Keshan Mohtashem, Persia. A highly decorative Mohtashem carpet with classical medallion-design on a blue/red field of flowers, palmettes, rosettes, vines and foliage. Executed with kork-wool(wool from the neck of the sheep), edge with charateristic pink silk overcasting. A top quality piece in perfect condition. First half of the 20th century. 495×335 cm.
Provenance: Skottorp castle, Halland, Sweden. Mohtashem weavings are considered the finest quality from the Keshan workshops.
