First titleleaf with 2 repairs. Bound in fine, cont. full calf, full decorated with gilt Empire ornaments and all edges gilt. Binding made after drawings by the Danish architect Gustav Friedrich (von) Hetsch, c. 1850.

At front mounted handwritten letter with seal and watermark concerning the binding from “Det Kongelige Akademi for de Skønne Kunster”, signed by the Danish Golden Age painter C.W. Eckersberg and the patronage J.M. Thiele.

Fine copy of Scöning and Thorlacius' bilingual (Icelandic and Danish) edition of Snorre's Heimskringla in a fine binding. Similar binding in Hannover's “Kunstfærdige gamle Bogbind”, p. 162.
