The Danish artist and photographer Søren Solkær (b. 1969) lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. He has been working with a global profile since 1996. He is globally recognized as the man responsible for various iconic images of Björk, The White Stripes, Paul McCartney, David Lynch, Amy Winehouse, Pharrell Williams, Adele, and Patti Smith. His portraits are often regarded as cinematic in tone with a distinctive color palette. The inspirations for his style as a photographer are ranging from filmmakers David Lynch and Wong Kar-Wai through to the works of photographer Philip-Lorca diCorcia and painter Caspar David Friedrich. Most recently Søren Solkær has photographed starling murmurations in six European countries. Inspired by classical landscape painting, calligraphy, and Japanese wood cuts, he has created a series of graphic images of the landscape andgreat flocks of starlings performing an unrivalled display of collaborationand performance skills. The work is part of a charity auction to benefit “Børns Vilkår” (Children's Rights Denmark). The auction is initiated and curated by “Curated by Jens-Peter Brask”.
