Mughal miniature painter, c. 1825

A Collection of 14 miniature paintings in the shape of Mughal emperors depicted in full and partial profile wearing distinguished costumes and richly endowed with jewellery. Gouache on ivory. Each portrait about 9×6 cm.

The portraits depicted include the following Mughal emperors: Babur 1526–1530 Humayun 1530–1540 Akbar 1556–1605 Jahangir 1605–1627 Shah Jahan 1627–1658 Aurangzeb 1658–1707 Bahadur Shah 1707–1712 Furrakhsiyar 1713–1719 Nadir Shah 1736–1747 Alamgir 1754–1759 Timur Shah 1772–1793 Shah Alam II 1759–1806

In addition, two oval genre paintings of two women, one playing music and the other with children are included. Approximately 8×7 cm. (16)
