Vasilii Timofeevich Timofeev (b. Sergievskoe (Kadikovka) 1835, d. c. 1914)

A young Russian peasant scientist. Signed with monogram and dated 1876 (in Cyrillic). Oil on canvas. On the stretcher a crowned wax seal. 46×58 cm.

Exhibited: “Exhibition of Russian Art”, Paris 1906.

Provenance: Seller's grandfather received it as payment from his employer in the late 1940s in Denmark. The employer earlier acquired it from a German family.
