A Swedish late Gustavian painted sofa each side decorated with carved decoration, female and lion masks, round fluted legs. Early 19th century. L. 212 cm.
This sofa was presumably made by the Stockholm chair-maker Ephraim Ståhl, 1767–1820. His furniture was in high demand, and his workshop furnished numerous castles and manor houses with chairs and couches. Literature: Torsten Sylvén, 'Stolens guldalder', 2003.
