Russian porcelain plate, decorated in gold and colours on white ground, edge with foliage and flowers, centre with a view of Tsaritsa Island with the Tsaritsa's Pavillion at Peterhof outside St. Petersburg. The Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, marked A III in underglaze green for Tsar Alexander III of Russia (1881–1894). Diam. 24 cm.
The view is painted after a watercolour in the 1840s by Johann Jakob Meyer (1787–1858). This reproduced: “An Imperial Fascination: Porcelain. Dining with the Czars - Peterhof”, A La Vieille Russie 1991, p. 104.
