Gzhel Porcelain Factory
A collection of seven Russian porcelain figurines, decorated in overglaze colours and gold, depicting fully armed Russian bogatyr worriors from the 10th-11th century. Designed 1910 by Boris Berngardovich Lange (1888–1969), executed 1920–1930 at Gzhel Porcelain Factory, where B. B. Lange taught students from Moscow Technical Art School. Apparently unmarked, five pieces numbered from four to eight. H. five á 21 cm and two á 29 cm. (7).
Provenance: Seller's grandfather Kaj Ipsen (1925–2012), who lived on Bornholm until 1950. During the Soviet occupation of Bornholm 1945–1946 he met a Russian soldier, who had brought these figures with him and now swapped them for a bottle of brandy.
Wear due to age and use, among others worn painting, few holes and chips plus few fiiring cracks in bottom.
