Russian emerald-, gold and diamond brooch, set with cabochoncut emeralds and old mine-cut diamonds, mounted in 14k gold. Indistinct maker's mark, St. Petersburg town mark, 56 standard. C. 1900. Original case from K. Hahn in St. Petersburg enclosed. H. 3 cm. (2).
Provenance: Seller's grandfather William Valdemar Rubow (b. 1870 in Copenhagen, married to Agnes Rubow, née Gregersen), who worked at the Royal Court at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen. According to seller's information he acquired the brooch after 1917 by Tsaritsa Maria Feodorovna, while she lived in exile at Hvidøre, Denmark.
