Mathias Ortmann, attributed to (b. 1692, d. Copenhagen 1757)
A Danish Rococo giltwood, black and gilt lacquer bureau cabinet, decorated overall with Chinese figures, landscapes, houses and floral sprays, arched moulded cresting centered by large cartouche carved with a dragon, pierced rocaille and flowers, above two portal shaped mirrored doors, the lower part with fall front revealing an interior fitted with curved drawers centred by a mirrored door, above three long curved drawers, on later giltwood sleigh feet. C. 1750, restored and parts renewed. H. 255 cm. W. 125 cm. D. 65 cm.
According to tradition the bureau cabinet originates from Hirscholm Castle, Denmark.
