A fine French iron mounted flintlock pistol circa 1700 by Fafchamps. The butt cap is finely cut with foliage and has long straps and a grotesque mask. Crowned blank escutcheon in silver. The somewhat flattened lock is signed FAFCHAMPS by the pan cover spring and decorated with a grotesque mask and engraved along the edge, the cock with foliage has the cock screw covered with a grotesque mask, the pan cover is iron cut with foliage, the trigger guard with grotesque mask ends in vase, pierced side view with animal heads, approx. 35.3 cm. long barrel in caliber approx. 15.5 mm. cut above the powder chamber with a face and leafwork and the silver-tipped wooden ramrod is held by two fluted pipes. The stock is cut around the metal parts with, among other things, leaf work. (1)

The iron slightly spotted. A finely made repair behind the lock.
