Adam Müller (b. Copenhagen 1811, d. s.p. 1844)
View of Prague with the Charles Bridge crossing the Vltava River (Moldau). Signed A. Müller. Oil on canvas. 102×154 cm.
Adam Müller trained with C. W. Eckersberg. He is best known for his historical paintings. On his first trip abroad in 1834 he visited Germany (The Elb valley, Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, Düsseldorf, the Rhineland) and Bohemia (Prague and Karlsbad).
The present early painting is likely to date from c. 1834, painted on his visit to Prague, where he was fascinated by the beautiful town and its well-known Karlsbrücke or Charles Bridge.
