Elisabeth Jerichau Baumann (b. Warsaw 1819, d. Copenhagen 1881)

Provenance: Descendants of tobacco manufacturer Heinrich Hirschsprung, founder of Den Hirschsprungske Samling (The Hirschsprung Collection), till now.

Elisabeth Jerichau Baumann often used her children as models for her paintings. Here a funny episode from daily life has been turned into a fine depiction of a child.
