Wooden figure group with traces of gilt, depicting The Warrior Prince Xue Pinggui telling his faithful friend, the horse Hong Zong Lie Ma “The moon is not always full, and flowers do not always bloom”. China, Qing, 18th century. H. 37 cm.

Provenance: Former East Asiatic chief executive Mr. Henrik V. Jacobsen's collection.

Condition

Wear due to age, several cracks, gilt very worn, left shoetip repaired, possibly part of harness lacking, left mantle sleeve lacking, hat lacking a part, point of saddle with chip, repair on left side of face.
