Johan Thomas Lundbye (b. Kalundborg 1818, d. Bedsted 1848)
En kæmpehøj. A barrow. Signed with monogram and dated 1844 and inscribed with a quotation: “Om Nordens Kamp bør en Kampe-Steen Tale - dens Herlighed fattes af dybere Sands -- Grundtvig”. Pencil and watercolour on paper. Visible size 18×23 cm.
The quotation is taken from N. F. S. Grundtvig's “Nordens Mytologi” from 1808, by many said to be a masterpiece in Danish literature.
