Albumen prints mounted in contemporary decorated lacquer album with inlaid ivory, all edges gilt. Lacking several tissue guards, the remaining with tears, foxing and wear. Spine restored.
This interesting album contains 50 handcoloured photographs from Japan decpicing both topographical views as well as portraits of the people of Japan incl. bathing beauties, hair dressers, rice pounders and more. Also disquiting photographs of public decaptitations and Kôzaburô Tamamuras famous photo collage of baby pictures are represented in this collection.
