Bertha Dorph (b. Copenhagen 1875, d. Hillerød 1960)

Bertha Dorph birth name was Green. She was in 1900 married to the painter Niels Vinding Dorph.
According to seller's information the painting was a commission for The Birgittine Nuns in Vadstena. However, they rejected the finished painting, since they found St. Birgitta's dress too low cut and provocative.
In need of cleaning and new varnish. Minor crackles.
