Sale: “Finn Birger Christensen'ssamling af Nutidskunst”, Kunsthallen, Copenhagen, Nov. 1993, cat. no. 30, ill.Self-contained forms in gay intense colours are fundamental elements of Ejler Bille's idiom. His paintings are a game to the eye. A game where the eye follows the organic merry figures that almost seem to jump from the canvas in a wealth of colours, leading the eye from one corner to another and back again until it finally settles in a little colour spot. Ejler Bille's paintings are the outcome of a long process: the canvas was almost modelled by his brush and in the end, a number of figures were created, appearing alive on the canvas and bringing life to new living beings. His paintings are thus a cosmos of life, colour and figures.
