The painting is a preliminary work for no. 714 in Lise Svanholm, A Catalogue Raisonné of the Works of Laurits Tuxen. That one is now in New York.
The dinner took place in the home “Adelaide” of manufacturer Jacob Moresco. He was celebrating his 50 jubilee by inviting 45 industrial leaders and financial magnates in tailcoats to a magnificent dinner.
