Tibetan gilt bronze figure of Tsongkhapa seated on a lotus throne with the hands in gesture of teaching, wearing heavy inner and outer patchwork robes flanked on either side by a lotus stem. 18th-19th century. Weight 21,7 kg. H. 41 cm.

Provenance: Carl Alfred Jensen, 1886–1953. CAJ was engineer at Northern Telegraph Company and was posted in China 1911–1927, where he lived with his wife and two daughters. The family stayed at various places in China, but were mainly living in Tiensien. The figure has been in the family ever since.
