When the Tsar family were executed in 1918, Olga fled with her family from the Crimea to the Cossack village of Novo-Minskaya. Here they rented a small house, where they lived until they in 1920 had to flee to Denmark.
Tihon Kulikovsky (1917–1993) was Grand Duchess Olga's eldest son.
