The work here presented was conceived during Adam Jeppesen's 487 day long solo walking-tour from the Arctic to the Antarctic, crossing North and South America. On this long, lonely journey, the camera was used to record the experiences and capture the moment. But the negatives were physically affected by the travel – grains of dust and little light beams found their way into the camera box along the way.

The final work integrates these “flaws”, creating an artwork were the travel dust and coincidental light is “materialized” in the picture – like little traces from the traveller’s lonely voyage. By printing the image on 42 pages of xerox paper and mounting them with pins the ephemeral nature of the traveller’s experiences is further accentuated. The documentary quality of the traveller’s experience coincides with the dreamy nature of travelling in Jeppesen’s travel works.

Adam Jeppesen's “XX-Tikal” was part of his exhibition The Flatlands Camp Project at The National Photographic Museum in Copenhagen in 2012. The work was also exhibited at VOLTA Basel in 2012.
