A Norwegian Barogue silver peg tankard, cylindrical, pine-cone shaped thumb-piece, flat cover engraved with the inscription “Wibolt Hans Søn Fris Margrete Powels Daater 1650”, two medaillons with owner's initials C:M:S M:J:D and NNSL SRD 1699, encircled by flowers and foliage, domed base. Body engraved and pricked with later initials and names. Maker Christopher Lauritzen, Tønsberg c. 1650. Weight 1116 gr. H. 21.5 cm.

Literature: Hermann Schmitz: Generaldirektør Ole Olsens Kunstsamling, volume 1, cat. no. 382, illustrated plate 50, here incorrectly described as being made by the Danish maker Carsten Lauridsen, Copenhagen. Similar tankard by the same maker, dated 1651, illustrated and mentioned in Jorunn Fossberg: Norske Sølvstempler, Gullsmedhåndverk i byene på Østlandet før 1870 (Norwegian Silver Marks, Goldsmith Craft in the Eastern towns before 1870), p. 162/163.
