An antique Erzerum kilim, Anatolia. A classic and very fine example of an Erzerum prayer kelim, detail with outlines of metal threads and centre with signature/dating(slurred). 19th century. 156×128 cm.

Sold at the “Neugebauer rug sale” at Winkel & Magnussen, 9th of december 1939 in Copenhagen. Depicted in the auction catalogue page 7, lot. 22. Literature: Depicted in R. Dr. Rudolph Neugebauer was a railroad construction engineer and a collector and scholar of Oriental carpets. He was the author of several high respected books on carpet and built a fine collection. R. Neugebauer died in the early 20th century. The collection was sold in Copenhagen by his son Mr. Otto Neugebauer. A few of the rugs from the “Neugebauer sale/collection” was bought by the Danish museum of arts & crafts and are still in there possession.
