Dr. Rudolph Neugebauer was a railroad construction engineer and a collector and scholar of Oriental carpets. He was the author of several high respected books on carpet and built a fine collection. R. Neugebauer died in the early 20th century. The collection was sold in Copenhagen by his son Mr. Otto Neugebauer. A few of the rugs from the “Neugebauer sale/collection” was bought by the Danish museum of arts & crafts and are still in there possession.
