South Italian red-figured lekanis, each side of the lid decorated with seated draped female holding box and necklace, on the other side a winged Eros, large palmettes in between. South Italy, 4th century BC. H. 12 cm. Diam. 14 cm.

Wear due to age and use. Large haircrack on lid (not throug-going), chips on rim of lower part, minor repair on finial. Possibly the two parts have not originally been a set.
