Jacques Eustache de Seve (1790-1830), after

Jacques Eustache de Seve (1790–1830), after: Two plates depicting monkeys. Hand-coloured copperplate engravings. Framed size 345×305mm. (2).

Unlike most artists of his era de Seve did not strive to depict animals with dry objectiveness. Instead he has chosen to place the monkeys in tableaus equipped with exotic fruit, thus creating very vivid interpretations.
