Hans Rosing (Brønø, Norway 1625–1699) was bishop of Akershus bishopric in Christiania (Oslo) in Norway from 1664–1699. Before being appointed bishop he served as vicar in Tureby and Dalby and from 1660 as vicar and provost in Kalundborg, Sealand. He had as bishop high reputation for learning, not only in theology but also in worldly matters. He was highly valued by Count Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve (procurator in Norway 1664–1699) and functioned as his private counselor in important matters both in war and peace. When in 1693 Rosing was suggested for the Danish Sealand bishopric after Hans Bagger, Gyldenløve recommended that Rosing should stay in Norway: “Den Mand kand vi iche miste fra Norge” (Norway can not loose this man).
