The Christiansø beaker, a rare large Danish Baroque parcel-gilt silver beaker and cover, cone shaped, lid set with rare medal cut by Christopher Scneider in 1684 in relation to the fortification of Christiansø, with inscription: ERTHOLMIA. ANTE IGNOBILIS CODANI . FILIA. NUNC AUSU PLUSQVAM HERCULEO. CHRISTIANI QVINTI. NOBILITATA NEPTUNO DESPONSATA REGI GLORIAM REGNIS UIILIATE PARTURIT. POSTHAC. CHRISTIANSØE. = Ertholmene, a daughter of Codan (= the Baltic Sea), formerly of unnoble birth, now ennobled by the Herculean efforts of Christian V, betrothed to Neptune, is heavy with honour for the king and use for his realms.
