Arne Jacobsen (b. Copenhagen 1902, d. s.p. 1971)

A rare, early easy chair with sweeping birch frame. Sides and back with woven cane. Seat upholstered with light fabric. Manufactured circa 1935 by Fritz Hansen, with original paper label.

This chair originates from the interior of Novo therapeutic laboratory constructed by Arne Jacobsen in 1934–1935, where Fritz Hansen supplied much of the furniture. It is in it's basic form a variation of similar chairs by Jacobsen from this early period, with common features such as the curved back, the separate heavy seat in forward position, and armrests and back as one coherent form.
