Martinus Rørbye (b. Drammen 1803, d. Copenhagen 1848)

Thorvaldsens Museum, A Catalogue Raisonné of the Works of Martinus Rørbye no. 233 and 234 both mention “En araber i kostume” (An Arab in costume). Both without measurements mentioned. One of them could be “The Kabyle”.

Kabyle (Arabic): The Hamitic Berber inhabitants in the North African Atlas Mountains. They are characterized by being tall, very often with blond hair and blue eyes.
