Finn Juhl (b. Frederiksberg 1912, d. Ordrup 1989)

Unique teak conference table. Top inlaid with wengé. Curving ends. Special order made by Bovirke circa 1950s. H. 74 cm. W. 140 cm. L. 385 cm.

This table is one of many variations on the same theme where the top is decorated with inlays of a different kind wood. This theme in a table by Finn Juhl is first seen in the dining room suite presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in 1947. Later the theme was developed with a dining table Finn Juhl designed for Baker Furniture. Sketches by Finn Juhl show that this type of table on several occations were made to order in custom sizes. These orders were made by Baker Furniture in the USA and by cabinetmaker Niels Vodder and Bovirke in Denmark. The frames and legs could differ somewhat depending on the maker but the top inlaid with a leaf-like pattern was a reccurring theme. In this case the frame is based on the Bovirke model BO-116 table.
