Carl Hansen & Son test piece
A freestanding rosewood cabinet, front with two drawers and flip-down leaf. Inside with 14 drawers and a door inlaid with sea motif of fish and plants. Made 1960 as a cabinetmakers test piece at Carl Hansen & Son, one of the makers of Hans J. Wegner furniture . H. 131 cm. W. 114 cm. D. 47 cm.
A presumption that this cabinet was designed by Hans J. Wegner could unfortunately not be verified by Marianne Wegner. It is however certain that the present cabinet is heavily inspired by Wegner's famous “Fish Cabinet”. When the present cabinet was presented, it was mentioned and illustrated in “Fyens Tidende” in 1960.
