This rare work edited by Arturo Schwarz on the forrunners of the avantgarde comprises etchings by some of the most important artists of Surrealism including Man Ray, Magritte and Marcel Duchamp. It is the second part of two on the forerunners of the avantgarde which is part of an impressive set of 10 volumes called “International Anthology of Contemporary Engraving” containing engravings by the most important artists of contemporary art.

Provenance: With the book mark of Wilhelm Freddie. Enclosed typewritten, signed letter by the editor for Wilhelm Freddie thanking him for their collaboration and his artistic contribution. Dated 1966.
