Laurids de Thurah (1706–59) is the principal representative of baroque architecture in Denmark. This is his monumental masterwork on Danish architecture, complete with 281 engraved plates by the Germans Michael Keyl and C.L. Wüst. Only two volumes were published during his lifetime. Here the 3rd volume by Thurah is included in manuscript, probably calligraphed by the Danish art-historian Julius Lange who has signed the introduction. Bibl. Dan. II, 602; Graesse VII,153; Brunet V, 851.
