Henri Selmer, Paris
“Selmer Super Series”. A gilded brass Alto saxophone. Stamped SSS, serial no. 16774. Manufactured 1932. in a lined instrument case with various accessories and attestation.
The “cigar cutter” type of which approximately 2,000 were made are considered the first of Selmer's master works.
Provenance: Kai Ewans, Danish conductor and jazz musician among the pioneers of the nation in the genre and with a distinguished career at home and abroad.
Acquired by the present owner directly from Kai Ewans in about 1953, a few years after the latter retired from music.
Stained, gilding worn of in several places. We do not guarantee for the functionality.
