A Chinese rectangular carved hardwood box pierced and carved with flowers and design. Ca. 1900. H. 8 cm. W. 23 cm. D. 23 cm.

Provenance: Carl Alfred Jensen, 1886–1953. CAJ was engineer at Northern Telegraph Company and was posted in China 1911–1927, where he lived with his wife and two daughters. The family stayed at various places in China, but were mainly living in Tiensien. The figure has been in the family ever since.
