“The Sobstveny Service” - set of nine Russian porcelain plates, purple and gilt-edged boarders with the mitre crowned cypher of Tsarevich Alexander Alexandrovich of Russia (later Tsar Alexander III). The Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, one marked A II for Tsar Alexander II of Russia (1855–1881); eight marked Cyrillic H II for Tsar Nicholas II of Russia (1894–1917), hence one dated 1904, one dated 1910 and seven dated 1912. Diam. 23.5 cm. (9).

“Sobstveny” is Russian for private. It means that the service was manufactured for private use of the Tsarevich and later on supplemented.
