Børge Mogensen (b. Aalborg 1914, d. Gentofte 1972)

A free-standing three-seater sofa with mahogany legs. Sides, back and loose cushions upholstered with patinated natural leather. Model 2213. Designed 1962. Manufactured and marked with label by Fredericia Furniture circa 1967. L. 222 cm.

Børge Mogensen designed this sofa in 1962 for his home in Gentofte north of Copenhagen, where it still stands, placed between the two tables that dictated the measurements of the sofa. The simplicity and clean lines have since made the sofa one of the most recognised Mogensen pieces, still used widely today in government buildings, embassies, executive offices and private homes all over the world. Condition

Wear due to age and use. Marks and scratches on legs. Cusions ar dry with patina and stains. One end and backside of the sofa is the leather cracked and parched.
