Exceptional collection of 32 British Museum electroplate copies of ancient Greek coins, 25 of which stamped “MB” or “R.R.” for Robert Ready of London, including a Sicilian Dekadrachm of Syracuse (stamped RR); Samos Stater (MB); Sidon Double Shekel (MB); Elis Stater (MB); most coins come w. old collectors' labels

Robert Ready and his sons worked for the British Museum and produced electrolyte copies of its coins, medals and seals to museums, royal houses and collectors. The coins are renowned for being almost indistinguishable from genuine coins and have become highly sought-after collectibles in their own right. Most coins were stamped “R”, “RR” or “MB”. They were produced between 1859 and the 1920's and a collection such as this very rarely comes up for sale. - Please see our website for photos of all coins
