Niels Vodder (b. 1892, d. 1982)

A teak dressing table with matching mirror. Table with side mounted frame and light blue formika top. Front with resp. one and two drawers in each side, one drawer with adjustable maple storage compartments. Mirror in three sections with foldable sides. This example made circa 1950s by cabinetmaker Niels Vodder. H. 70,5./140 cm. L. 124 cm. D. 50 cm.

This piece have similarities to several of Finn Juhl's designs, especially the cutlery sideboard presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in 1949. The light blue top is also a characteristic of Finn Juhl's. However, it cannot be documented that this dressing table is designed by Finn Juhl. It is known that Niels Vodder designed and made pieces in the style of Finn Juhl.

Condition

Patina due to age and use including marks, scratches and chips in veneer. Drawer fronts with damp marks, large drawers difficult to pull out. Center mirror with small defect on left side.
