A pair of large Swedish Blyberg porphyry campagna shaped vases with gilt bronze mounting in the shape of ram's heads and flower festoons and square bases. Älvdalen, first half of the 19th century. H. 48 cm. Diam. 38 cm. (2)

Älvdalen porphyry works was in the period 1818–1856 owned by the Swedish royal family. Vases like these was made for use in the royal family and as presents. Among important works from Älvdalen is the Rosendal Palace vase and the sarcophagus of Karl XIV Johan in The Riddarholm Church, Stockholm.
