Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers of Fine Art

The best place to sell

One auction house – two kinds of auction

Bruun Rasmussen is probably best known for the traditional auctions that the auction house has conducted for more than sixty years following the classic model with an auctioneer on the podium. Online auctions came along in 2004, however, and they are based on the traditional auction principles – the only difference is that bidding, hammer strokes and payment is done on the internet. Below the two different kinds of auction are briefly described.

At our website you can easily distinguish between the two kinds of auction in that traditional auctions are marked by Bordeaux-red colour and the symbol Traditionelle auktioner whereas online auctions are marked by the colour orange and the symbol Net-auktioner.

Traditionelle auktioner Traditional auction

Traditional auctions are held 10-12 times a year in the auction hall in Bredgade 33 in Copenhagen. These auctions always draw quite a lot of attention, and here the auctioneer is ready to let the ivory hammer come down for exquisite visual art, fine antiques, international design, unique arts and crafts and rare collectibles. Everyone is welcome and there are no particular requirements or dress codes. Prior to every classic auction we issue a comprehensive and profusely illustrated auction catalogue of all the items for sale.

Net-auktioner Online auktion

As opposed to traditional auctions, online auctions are conducted every week all through the year. Here you can bid for everything from art, antiques and modern design to books, stamps, coins, wine and arms and armour. Usually, the items here will be in a lower price range than what you would find at traditional auctions, but online auctions share the same focus on high quality. They are conducted from Bruun Rasmussen's Århus branch as well as from the branches at Sundkrogsgade 30 and Baltikavej 10 in Copenhagen's Østerbro. The various categories are presented at fixed days of the week, and as a rule the hammer strokes will commence at 8.00 pm.

Preview

The items offered for sale at both kinds of auction will always be presented with texts and photos here at the website. Furthermore, the items will be available for preview in the respective branches where you can inspect them personally. At the previews you will also be able to contact Bruun Rasmussen's valuation experts who are ready to tell you more about the item in question. Where a particular item is located for preview, will appear from the presentation on the website.

If you have any questions, you are of course always welcome to contact us.
