Sweet wine miracles

Most of the wines at this auction are from private wine cellars, although wines from international and Danish professionals are also to be found.

The auction in March features many inspiring wines – 182 lots in all – including the sweet wine miracles of Sauterne, this time represented by the houses of Yquem, Fargues, and Suduiraut in addition to the very rare 1967 vintage of Gilette Crème de Tête!

The first Pingus

The auction also presents the 1995 vintage of the noble Pingus, Spain’s most costly wine. The wine also marked the beginning of Peter Sisseck’s Spanish endeavours, which are widely embracing. Apart from enjoying a great following in the Ribera del Duero region that is home to Pingus, the winemaker also acts as an adviser to many other prestigious Spanish wine houses.

Pingus achieved instant world fame for its superior quality. And since a large part of the coveted first 1995 vintage was lost to shipwreck in the Atlantic and thus never reached the USA, Pingus wines now enjoy cult status.

The 1995 vintage is the Pingus wine in shortest supply and therefore no doubt the most sought-after – not only because so much was lost at sea, but also because it was the very first Pingus vintage. In addition, the wine has been awarded no less than 98 Parker points.
