Martinus Rørbye (b. Drammen 1803, d. Copenhagen 1848)

Provenance: The artist's estate auction 1849 under the chapter “Originale Tegninger af Rörbye” (Original drawings by Rørbye", chapter 11, Greece, no. 35 (the drawing is inscribed '35' with pencil in the lower left corner on the back).
The study is from Rørbye's great journey abroad from 1834–1837, where he both visited Italy, Greece and Turkey.
The paper has turned brownish. Darker areas after mounting on cardboard. Darker brown stripe along the top edge. Brigther areas to the right of the left figure and along the edges. The paper is mounted on paper at the two top corners and the bottom right corner. The paper is slghtly bulging along the bottom edge. Some foxing. Two slight folds in the middle and to the left appr. 8 cm. Small paperloss at the top edge.
