Provenance: According to information the foot was acquired/given to Captain Harald de Neergaard, c. 1855–1925, during a trip to Rome by the end of 19th century. He travelled extensively abroad sailing with the frigate “Sjælland” in a.o. the Mediterranean and also made trips to Rome. The foot was obtained on one of these trips and has been in the family's ownership ever since. Captain Harald de Neergaard was the son of general Johan Waldemar de Neergaard, 1810–1879, Danish officer and minister of war (Krigsminister).
