Presumably the first sketch for “Må jeg låne de to brune heste?” (May I borrow the two brown horses?), a full length double portrait of Mr and Mrs Hage, today in the hall at Nivaagaard's Malerisamling.

The portraits were commisioned by the couple's eldest son Alfred Hage for the couple's golden wedding in 1849 the same year mr. Hage died. The sketches were carried out in Stege, where mr. and mrs. Hage lived and where Marstrand had family.

The couple was the grandparents of Johannes Hage the founder of the Nivaagaard Collection.
